Music

Modbury High School has an outstanding academic record and we take particular care that, whilst realising their musical potential, our musicians do not neglect the other aspects of their academic development.

The music programme at Modbury High School incorporates the standard musical literacy, history, aural and theory together with an extensive performance programme.

The three major ensembles stand in a symbiotic relationship to each other and this interdependence is essential to their further development. The standards attained in the areas of Concert Band and Stage Band are of a high order as witnessed by our completion/festival results.

Musicians at Modbury High School have access to our Instrumental Tuition Scheme for which at present no charge is made. Students who do not possess a musical instrument are able to take advantage of our Instrumental Hire Scheme. The school seeks to operate the scheme at the lowest possible rate and under advantageous conditions.

The Music Centre is equipped with a wide range of musical instruments, a large Band room, a Keyboard Laboratory, a Composition Laboratory, which comprises computers and synthesisers, Music Classrooms and Practice Rooms.
